What you get

Built for the business that has outgrown one signatory

When the founder is no longer the only person who pays people, the account has to keep up.

Roles and approval limits

Add staff as initiators, approvers or viewers. Set single-transaction and daily caps per role, and require one or two approvals above a threshold.

Transaction rules

Block weekend payments, restrict transfers to business hours, or allow them only from the locations you register. Rules apply to every user.

Payroll and bulk payments

Upload a schedule once, approve once, and pay everyone in a single run with one reference. Failed items retry without re-approving the batch.

POS terminals

Accept Verve, Mastercard and Visa in-store. Settlement into your Viscount account, every terminal on one dashboard, and a new terminal requested in the app.

Virtual terminal

Customers pay by transfer to your virtual account, and the payment appears on your phone or on the web the moment it lands, with the payer's name and amount, so a cashier can confirm it and hand over the goods.

Developer API

Virtual accounts for collections, transfers, and webhooks for every credit, so your own software knows who paid before your accountant does.

Records your auditors accept

Stamped statements, an audit trail of who initiated and who approved every payment, and exports your accountant can load directly.

A relationship manager

A named person who knows your business, opens the account with you, and is the first call when something needs a human rather than a form.

Controls

Decide who can move money, how much, and when

The account enforces your policy so you don't have to. Every rule is set by an approver in the app or on internet banking, applies to everyone, and is recorded in the audit trail.

  • Caps that holdA single-transaction cap, a daily cap, and a threshold above which a second approver is required.
  • Time windowsBlock weekends, or allow payments only during the hours your finance team is at work.
  • Allowed locationsRegister your office and branches. Payments initiated from anywhere else are held for an approver.
  • Emergency overrideA genuine out-of-hours payment can be released by two approvers, with the reason recorded.
POS terminals

Take card payments in-store, settled into the same account

A Viscount POS terminal accepts Verve, Mastercard and Visa, chip and contactless. Takings settle into your business account, and every terminal, cashier and transaction is visible on one dashboard.

  • All major schemesVerve, Mastercard and Visa, including contactless tap. Receipts by SMS or print.
  • Same-day settlementCard takings land in your Viscount account the same day, itemised by terminal.
  • One dashboard for every terminalSee takings by branch, terminal and cashier, spot a quiet till, and reconcile without a spreadsheet.
  • Request and track in the appOrder a terminal for a new branch from the app and track delivery. Swap a faulty one the same way.
Virtual terminal

Confirm a transfer the moment it lands, on any phone or browser

Most Nigerian customers would rather pay by transfer than by card. The virtual terminal makes that as fast as a POS: the customer pays to your virtual account, the credit appears on the cashier's phone or the web dashboard the instant it settles, and the cashier confirms it against the sale. No hardware, no waiting for an alert, no showing a screenshot.

  • Real-time, with the payer's nameEach credit shows the amount, the sender's name and bank and the time, as soon as the transfer settles. A sound and a banner mark every new payment.
  • A login for every cashier, a view for every managerCashiers see and confirm payments; they cannot move money. Managers and approvers see every till, every branch and every confirmation on the web dashboard.
  • One virtual account per till or branchGive each till its own account number and reconciliation does itself: every credit is already tagged to where it was taken.
  • End-of-day, doneA daily summary per till and per branch, confirmed against unconfirmed, exportable for your accountant. Unconfirmed credits are flagged so nothing slips through.
  • Settles into your account, like everything elseVirtual accounts sit under your business account. Money confirmed on the terminal is in your balance, under your rules and approvals, ready for payroll or a supplier.

Payroll and bulk payments

Pay everyone on the 25th, in one run

Upload a schedule, or reuse last month's. An initiator prepares it, an approver signs it off, and every person on the list is paid with a single reference on your statement.

  • Upload or reuseCSV or spreadsheet upload, or copy last month's run and edit the changes.
  • Name-checked before it runsEvery account number is verified against the account name before approval, so a typo never pays the wrong person.
  • Failed items retry on their ownIf a receiving bank is down, that item retries without the whole batch going back for approval.

Developer API

When the app isn't enough, there's the API

Businesses that collect from many customers or disburse from their own software can integrate directly. Virtual accounts per customer, transfers, and a webhook for every credit.

  • Virtual accounts that reconcile themselves
  • Transfers with idempotency keys, so a retry never pays twice
  • Signed webhooks and a sandbox that behaves like production

Questions

About business banking at Viscount

How many users can I add?
As many as you need. Each user is an initiator, an approver or a viewer, and each has their own login and audit trail. Users are added and removed by an approver in the app.
What is the difference between the POS and the virtual terminal?
The POS is a physical terminal that accepts card payments. The virtual terminal is software, on a phone or in a browser, that shows transfers arriving on your virtual account in real time so a cashier can confirm a payment made by bank transfer. Most businesses use both: cards on the POS, transfers on the virtual terminal, and everything settling into the same Viscount account.
Can a cashier using the virtual terminal move money?
No. A cashier login can see incoming payments on its assigned till and confirm them. It cannot initiate, approve or view outgoing payments. Managers and approvers see all tills on the web dashboard, and only approvers can move money, under the caps and rules you have set.
Which cards does the POS accept?
Verve, Mastercard and Visa, chip and contactless. Takings settle into your Viscount business account the same day, itemised by terminal.
Can I run payroll for staff who bank elsewhere?
Yes. A payroll run can pay any Nigerian bank account. Transfers to other banks carry the CBN-regulated interbank charge, shown per item before approval. Staff who bank with Viscount are paid free.
What if a payment needs to go out at the weekend and the rule blocks it?
Two approvers can release an emergency payment, with the reason recorded in the audit trail. The rule itself stays in place for everyone else.
Can the business get credit?
Yes. Working capital facilities, asset finance and, for accounts with a steady inflow history, an overdraft. Every offer shows interest, fees and the total cost of credit before you accept. See Loans for details.
