Who we bank

The sentence finishes differently for everyone

Boldness looks like a stall opened before sunrise, a payroll met on the 25th, a first shop lease, a savings plan nobody knows about. We built one bank for all four.

Security

Protected the way a bank should be

Your deposits are insured, your data is protected under Nigerian law, and every transaction has to pass controls you help set.

NDIC deposit insurance

Deposits are insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, the same protection that covers commercial bank deposits.

Two-factor on sensitive actions

Transfers above your limit, new beneficiaries, device changes and card reveals all require a second factor.

Limits and locations you control

Set your own daily and single-transaction caps, block payments outside business hours, restrict to registered locations.

Data protected under the NDPA

Questions

Things people ask before they open an account

Is my money safe in a microfinance bank?
Yes. Viscount is licensed and supervised by the Central Bank of Nigeria and deposits are insured by the NDIC, the same scheme that covers commercial bank deposits. Microfinance banks are subject to prudential requirements, regular examinations and the same anti-money-laundering rules as any other Nigerian bank.
What do I need to open an account?
A Nigerian phone number, your BVN and a valid means of identification such as your NIN slip, driver's licence, voter's card or international passport. Business accounts additionally require your CAC documents and the details of each signatory.
Can I send money to other banks?
Yes. Viscount is connected to the NIBSS Instant Payment network, so you can send to any Nigerian bank account and receive from any bank into your NUBAN. Transfers between Viscount accounts are free.
How quickly can I get a loan?
For existing customers with a transaction history, most decisions are returned within hours. New customers and larger facilities such as asset finance take longer because we verify the asset and the business. Every offer shows the full cost of credit before you accept it.
Can I open an account for my child?
Yes. FutureBold is a savings account for children under eighteen, opened and operated by a parent or guardian with their own Viscount account. Deposits can be scheduled automatically and the account converts to a standard account when the child turns eighteen.
What does a business need to open an account?
Your CAC certificate and status report, the BVN and ID of each director and signatory, proof of business address and, for companies, a board resolution naming the signatories. Sole proprietors and business names have a shorter list. Our business team will confirm exactly what applies to you before you start.
What happens if I have a complaint?
Open a ticket at support.viscountbank.com and you will receive a reference number and a first response within 5 to 30 minutes, between 7am and 8pm WAT every day. We aim to resolve complaints within five working days. If we have not resolved it within fourteen working days, you can escalate to the Consumer Protection Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
